I own quite a few old Camillus manufactured knives, they were very good working tools. Also made quite a few contract knives for other knife manufacturers (Becker, Cold Steel, Schrade, Buck and others), it was less expensive to go this route vs. retooling for a new knife design.

Re: Work sharp knife sharpener – 12/19/16 I guess it just took a bit of practice, or maybe starting with some small, sub-par blades was a bad idea. I just ran through the recommended progression on an old and haggard buck 119 special and it is incredibly sharp with just a few minutes work.

Apply a lubricant such as mineral oil to the stone to prevent the stone’s pores from clogging up with grit. Glide the knife down and off the stone at the bevel angle approximately 12 times to sharpen it. Repeat the process on the other side of the blade.
I own quite a few old Camillus manufactured knives, they were very good working tools. Also made quite a few contract knives for other knife manufacturers (Becker, Cold Steel, Schrade, Buck and others), it was less expensive to go this route vs. retooling for a new knife design.
